We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a Contract position based in Sacramento, California. The role requires strong spreadsheet skills and hands-on experience with general ledger activity to help keep reporting and day-to-day accounting processes organized and reliable.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and record journal entries with accuracy to support monthly accounting activity and financial close tasks
Maintain the general ledger by reviewing transactions, reconciling balances, and correcting discrepancies when needed
Use Microsoft Excel to organize financial data, analyze account activity, and build supporting schedules for reporting
Work within QuickBooks and Microsoft Dynamics GP to process accounting information and keep system records current
Apply lookup functions such as VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP to validate data, compare records, and improve reporting efficiency
Assist with account reconciliations and provide documentation that supports the accuracy of financial statements
Review accounting data for completeness and consistency while helping improve the reliability of routine finance processes
Requirements:
Relevant experience in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting position
Working knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliation, and general ledger maintenance
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP for data review and analysis
Hands-on experience using QuickBooks and Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics in an accounting environment
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage financial information with accuracy
Ability to organize priorities, meet deadlines, and handle multiple accounting tasks in a Contract role
