We are looking for a meticulous and reliable Staff Accountant to join our team in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Job Responsibility:
Oversee accounts payable processes, including coding, batching, and reconciling 75-125 weekly invoices and credit card expenses
Manage accounts receivable and billing functions to ensure timely and accurate financial records
Perform bank reconciliations, journal entries, and assist with month-end and year-end reporting activities
Handle payroll processing for two payrolls, covering approximately 15 employees
Prepare and maintain financial reports, including variance analysis, budgets, and projections using advanced Excel skills
Support audits, such as workers' compensation audits, by pulling and organizing necessary data
Manage personal financial matters for the owner, including bill payments and expense tracking
Assist with financial analysis by generating income statements, tracking projections, and updating spreadsheets
Learn and assist with additional responsibilities related to senior leadership roles, ensuring smooth operational transitions
Requirements:
Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with a strong focus on accounts payable and billing
Advanced proficiency in Excel, including the ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Experience managing payroll processes and reconciling financial data
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple financial entities and reporting requirements
Familiarity with general ledger activities, journal entries, and accruals
Previous experience working in a small business or family-run organization is highly desirable
Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a commitment to reliability and accuracy
