Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and review payroll-related journal entries to ensure labor expenses, taxes, deductions, and accruals are recorded accurately in the general ledger
  • Reconcile payroll balance sheet and expense accounts on a recurring basis, researching variances and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Analyze large payroll data sets to validate results, identify trends, and support accurate financial reporting
  • Assist with month-end close by completing account analysis, supporting schedules, and documentation tied to payroll accounting activity
  • Partner with payroll and finance teams to confirm that payroll transactions are properly reflected in accounting records
  • Use Excel to perform data validation, build reconciliations, and generate reports for high-volume payroll accounting review
  • Support accounting processes involving systems such as Oracle Fusion, Dayforce, and Advantage to maintain consistency and data accuracy across platforms

Requirements

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, including substantial exposure to payroll accounting
  • Strong understanding of payroll taxes, employee deductions, accruals, and the impact of payroll activity on the general ledger
  • Experience preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations in a high-volume environment
  • Proficiency with general ledger accounting and month-end close support
  • Advanced Excel skills for reporting, reconciliation, and large-scale data analysis

Nice to have

  • Experience working with Oracle Fusion, Dayforce, and Advantage is preferred
  • Knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and related accounting support activities is a plus
