We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in San Diego, California. This role requires expertise in managing financial records, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with corporate tax regulations. The ideal candidate will excel at analyzing financial data and collaborating with various departments to support accurate reporting and effective decision-making.
Job Responsibility:
Record and monitor daily cash transactions, reconcile bank accounts, and ensure appropriate liquidity levels
Develop and maintain short-term cash forecasts, analyze variances, and work with stakeholders to project cash requirements
Prepare, review, and post journal entries while ensuring accuracy in general ledger accounts
Perform monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly
Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring all deadlines are met and financial data is accurate
Assist in preparing internal and external financial reports, including supporting schedules
Handle accounts payable and receivable tasks when needed, such as invoice processing and vendor/customer communications
Identify and implement improvements to streamline accounting processes and strengthen internal controls
Provide documentation and respond to inquiries from external auditors during audits
Collaborate with internal teams to gather financial data, clarify variances, and ensure accurate reporting
Requirements:
At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably with corporate tax exposure
Proficiency in preparing and managing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accounts
Strong knowledge of corporate tax processes, including sales tax and corporate tax returns
Demonstrated ability to perform detailed reconciliations and resolve discrepancies efficiently
Experience supporting month-end and quarter-end closing activities
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in financial reporting
Effective communication skills for engaging with internal teams and external auditors
Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement effective solutions
