Job Description:

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a non-profit organization in Miami, Florida on a Contract basis. This hybrid opportunity offers a mix of remote and on-site work and is ideal for someone who can manage grant-related accounting activities with accuracy and strong attention to detail. The person in this role will support financial reporting, budget preparation, and account reconciliation while contributing to daily accounting operations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee grant-related accounting tasks to ensure financial records are accurate and aligned with funding requirements
  • Prepare budgets and monitor financial activity against planned allocations to support sound fiscal management
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to maintain reliable reporting
  • Record journal entries and maintain the general ledger with a high degree of accuracy
  • Assist with corporate tax, sales tax, and related filings as needed within the accounting function
  • Use Excel to analyze financial data, organize reporting, and support accounting decisions
  • Participate in an interview-based evaluation process that may include practical accounting exercises

Requirements:

  • Experience in staff accounting, preferably within a non-profit or grant-funded environment
  • Strong knowledge of journal entries, general ledger activity, and account reconciliation
  • Ability to prepare budgets and review financial information with accuracy and consistency
  • Proficiency in Excel for reporting, analysis, and data organization
  • Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return support
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple accounting priorities in a Contract role
  • Availability to work in a hybrid schedule in Miami, Florida with both remote and in-office days
