The Staff Accountant is responsible for executing established accounting processes with accuracy and efficiency. This role supports a broad range of accounting functions that contribute to the preparation of the Company's financial statements, including supporting schedules and analysis of data within the general ledger. The position also plays a key role in identifying opportunities to enhance process efficiency and improve data compilation and reporting workflows.
Job Responsibility
Perform reconciliations of income statement and balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations
Perform weekly credit card and bank reconciliations, resolving discrepancies to maintain accurate records
Apply ACH and check payments to customer accounts, ensuring timely and accurate posting
Assist with the monthly close process on a four-week cycle, ensuring timely and accurate completion
Compile data and generate recurring and ad hoc reports, including facilities and weekly sales reporting
Investigate and resolve credit card disputes in a timely manner
Coordinate sales and use tax filings, as well as other applicable local tax filings
Prepare and submit census and other regulatory reporting
Utilize financial systems to develop, maintain, and enhance reporting templates and data queries
Collaborate with finance team members on special projects and cross-functional initiatives
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel (advanced skills and VBA experience preferred), Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact across all levels of the organization
Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships and contribute effectively to a team environment
