Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in New York, New York. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. If you have a strong background in bookkeeping, general ledger management, and financial reporting, this position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute your expertise in a dynamic environment.

Job Responsibility:

Record and reconcile daily financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness
Organize and clean up general ledger accounts to maintain proper accounting records
Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclassifications, and corrections
Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure transactions are recorded in the correct period
Reconcile bank and credit card statements to identify and resolve discrepancies
Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on past due balances
Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable subledgers to the general ledger
Ensure proper coding and documentation for payables and vendor payments
Assist with month-end closing activities and the preparation of financial reports
Collaborate with internal staff or external accountants to address accounting needs and ensure compliance with company policies

Requirements:

Proven experience in bookkeeping or a similar accounting role, with at least 2 years of relevant experience
In-depth knowledge of general ledger, payables, receivables, and bank reconciliations
Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Sage Intacct and Sage 300
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet tools
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial tasks
Ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage workload
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return processes
