Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant for a contract opportunity within a fast-paced and collaborative environment. This is a hands-on accounting role ideal for a professional who thrives in high-volume operations, enjoys problem-solving, and can effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy. The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in supporting daily accounting operations, month-end close activities, financial reporting, reconciliations, and transaction processing. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, excellent organizational abilities, and outstanding communication skills, as this position regularly interacts with senior-level management and cross-functional teams throughout the organization. Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and post journal entries including accruals, adjustments, reclasses, and month-end close entries
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger account analysis to ensure financial accuracy and completeness
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes in a deadline-driven environment
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice processing, payment tracking, and issue resolution
  • Analyze financial data, investigate discrepancies, and resolve variances in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
  • Prepare supporting schedules, reports, and documentation for internal and external audit requests
  • Assist with fixed asset tracking, depreciation schedules, and account reconciliations as needed
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and senior leadership to provide financial information and support business initiatives
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders regarding account activity and financial inquiries
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies within accounting workflows
  • Support ad hoc accounting projects and reporting requests as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of accounting experience in a fast-paced corporate or public accounting environment preferred
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and GAAP
  • Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with senior-level managers
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Adaptable, proactive, and highly organized with a strong sense of accountability and urgency
