Job Description

A well-established healthcare organization in Sylacauga is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support its finance and accounting operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, assisting with audits, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards. Job Responsibility

  • Support accounts payable processes including invoice matching, coding, reporting, and payment processing
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Assist with monthly financial close and reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts
  • Maintain accounting records to support annual audits, budgets, and cost reporting
  • Perform quarterly petty cash audits and reconcile balances to the general ledger
  • Monitor and distribute electronic invoices daily to appropriate departments
  • Maintain lease accounting records in accordance with applicable accounting standards
  • Conduct ongoing review of financial data and interfaces to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Protect confidential financial and organizational information
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
  • 3–5 years of accounting or business office experience (healthcare experience preferred)
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Experience with database or reporting tools a plus
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Professional demeanor and strong communication skills
