Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations for a growing organization in Wellesley, Massachusetts. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage core accounting tasks accurately while contributing to tax-related activities and month-end close processes. The right candidate will bring strong general ledger experience, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and record journal entries to maintain accurate financial records and support timely reporting
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure the integrity of accounting data
  • Assist with corporate tax activities, including gathering documentation and supporting the preparation of filings
  • Manage sales tax processes by reviewing transactions, tracking obligations, and helping ensure timely submissions
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end close by organizing account activity and completing assigned accounting tasks
  • Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for audits, compliance reviews, and internal reporting needs
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and improve the accuracy of financial information

Requirements

  • Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role
  • Hands-on knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
  • Familiarity with corporate tax concepts and support for corporate tax return preparation
  • Working knowledge of sales tax processes and related compliance requirements
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for financial analysis and reporting
