Our client is a growing organization that is actively building and strengthening its accounting department. They are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their team in Gardena, CA. In this position, the Staff Accountant will play a key role in daily accounting operations while working closely with the Controller and broader finance team. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and interested in contributing to process improvements as the company continues to scale.
Job Responsibility:
Manage Accounts Receivable functions, including generating customer invoices, processing and applying cash receipts, and following up on past-due accounts
Perform Accounts Payable activities such as coding and entering invoices, obtaining approvals, and coordinating timely vendor payments
Maintain accurate customer and vendor records while responding to inquiries and resolving discrepancies
Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and analyzing variances
Prepare internal financial statements and management reports to support leadership decision-making
Ensure the general ledger is accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with company policies and accounting standards
Support external audits by organizing documentation and responding to auditor requests
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies
Assist with special projects and provide general accounting support as needed
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
Two or more years of accounting experience, including exposure to AP and AR
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes
Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines
Comfortable working in a growing and evolving business environment
Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience, demonstrating proficiency in key accounting functions
Strong understanding of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and general ledger processes
Proficient in accounting software and advanced Excel skills, with the ability to analyze and manipulate data effectively
Knowledge of corporate and sales tax regulations, including preparing tax returns
Experience in creating journal entries and maintaining general ledger accuracy
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing individual responsibilities
