Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Long Island City, New York. This role is ideal for someone who excels in corporate tax and accounting processes, and is eager to contribute to the efficient management of financial operations. You will play a vital role in maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare and review corporate tax returns to ensure accuracy and adherence to regulations
  • Manage sales tax filings and compliance requirements across various jurisdictions
  • Record and reconcile journal entries to maintain the integrity of financial data
  • Oversee the general ledger by verifying and updating account balances
  • Utilize NetSuite software to streamline accounting processes and generate financial reports
  • Collaborate with internal teams to address and resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Conduct regular audits of financial documentation to confirm accuracy and compliance
  • Assist in preparing detailed reports for management and external stakeholders
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure timely completion
  • Research and apply updates to tax laws and accounting standards as necessary

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in corporate tax preparation and filing
  • Strong knowledge of sales tax regulations and compliance
  • Proficiency in recording journal entries and reconciling accounts
  • Expertise in managing general ledger accounts and ensuring accuracy
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite or similar accounting software
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in accounting processes
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks efficiently
