We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations for a Long-term Contract position based in Austin, Texas. Job Responsibility
Maintain the general ledger by preparing and posting journal entries with a high level of accuracy and timeliness
Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts, investigating discrepancies and resolving issues promptly
Process and record incoming payments, including proper coding of checks and related accounting documentation
Support corporate tax and sales tax activities by organizing data, assisting with filings, and helping ensure compliance with applicable regulations
Prepare financial records and reports that help the accounting team monitor transactions and maintain clean, accurate books
Follow company policies and applicable local, state, and federal requirements when handling accounting tasks and documentation
Collaborate with internal departments to gather financial information, answer questions, and support efficient dealership accounting operations
Use accounting systems, including Reynolds & Reynolds, to manage records and complete assigned financial processes effectively
Requirements
Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role, preferably within the automotive industry
Proficiency in general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and journal entry preparation
Working knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return support activities
Familiarity with Reynolds & Reynolds or comparable dealership accounting software
Strong mathematical, analytical, and computer skills with close attention to detail
Effective communication, organization, and interpersonal skills suited to a collaborative team environment
Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced setting while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
