Job Description

Our client in Longmeadow, Massachusetts is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant for a contract opportunity. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong analytical skills who enjoys supporting day-to-day accounting operations, preparing financial reports, and ensuring accurate financial records. The Staff Accountant will support the accounting team with general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities. Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Perform bank and account reconciliations
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
  • Help prepare financial statements and internal reports
  • Analyze account activity and investigate discrepancies
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting policies and procedures
  • Assist with audits and other ad hoc accounting projects

Requirements

  • Prior experience in accounting, accounts receivable, collections, or account reconciliation is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and review journal entries with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate variances and resolve account discrepancies effectively
  • Proficiency with accounting, receivables, or student financial systems and related software tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information clearly
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records
