Our client, a fast-growing logistics company, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their expanding finance team in Long Beach, California. Job Responsibility:
Reconcile daily bank statements and promptly research and resolve discrepancies
Partner closely with the Controller and Operations leadership to support smooth accounting workflows
Research transactional variances, identify root causes, and track resolutions
Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
Monitor balance sheet accounts, follow up on outstanding items, and resolve discrepancies
Prepare accruals, journal entries, and supporting schedules for the month-end close process
Assist with audit preparation by compiling documentation and responding to auditor requests
Generate ad hoc financial reports and perform analysis to support management decisions
Support internal controls and compliance initiatives
Take on additional responsibilities and special projects as the role continues to grow
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in logistics, transportation, or a fast-paced environment
Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and journal entries
High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills
Proficient in Excel
experience with accounting systems/ERPs preferred
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Desire to learn, grow, and advance within the organization
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited 4-year institution.
At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience, including training or equivalent education.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Solid understanding of corporate tax, sales tax, and financial reporting processes.
Experience in preparing journal entries and managing general ledger accounts.
Proven ability to handle month-end close activities and analyze financial statements.
Familiarity with audited financial statements and related documentation.
Exceptional organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
