We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance Team on a contract basis. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting financial operations, including reconciliations, journal entries, and audit-related tasks. This position is part-time, with a hybrid schedule combining remote and in-office work in Norwalk, Connecticut.
Job Responsibility:
Reconcile revenue activities between donor management and accounting systems, investigating and resolving any discrepancies
Complete monthly bank account reconciliations and address outstanding items promptly
Assist with audit preparation, including pulling necessary documentation and generating schedules and reconciliations
Support month-end close processes by preparing journal entries, reconciling account balances, and contributing to reporting activities
Provide administrative and accounting support to the Controller, including handling special projects and performing ad hoc analyses
Requirements:
Proficiency in preparing journal entries and managing the general ledger
Solid understanding of revenue recognition principles
Demonstrated experience with bank reconciliations and resolving variances
Familiarity with month-end close procedures and balance sheet reconciliations
Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
Experience with accounting software such as Sage Intacct and donor management platforms like DonorPerfect
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
