Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Westbrook, Maine. This is a long-term contract position that offers a dynamic, hybrid work schedule and consistent hours. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing financial operations with precision and efficiency.

Job Responsibility:

Prepare and process journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting
maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to support month-end and year-end closing activities
oversee accounts payable processes, including invoice approvals and timely payments
manage payroll operations to ensure accurate and timely compensation for employees
perform detailed account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies
collaborate with internal teams to support financial audits and compliance initiatives
generate financial reports and provide insights to assist in decision-making
ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements in all accounting tasks
support the implementation and optimization of accounting systems as needed

Requirements:

Proven experience in journal entries and general ledger management
strong knowledge of accounts payable and payroll processes
familiarity with accounting principles and financial reporting standards
proficiency in accounting software and tools
excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid work environment
effective communication skills to liaise with internal teams and stakeholders
bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred
