Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Aiea, Hawaii. This role focuses on providing specialized property accounting support in a dynamic and high-volume environment. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in property management accounting, advanced Excel proficiency, and excellent organizational skills to ensure accurate and efficient financial processes.

Job Responsibility:

Handle property-specific accounting tasks, including filing organizational reports, reconciling management fees, and allocating utility expenses among tenants and properties
Process and input a high volume of monthly payables, exceeding 1,500 entries
Prepare and manage property tax documentation and reporting requirements
Address inquiries from tenants, property managers, and owners with professionalism and exceptional customer service
Utilize property management software to streamline processes
Perform advanced Excel functions, such as creating pivot tables and handling complex data analysis
Assist in reviewing and approving financial entries to ensure compliance and accuracy
Collaborate with team members to support accounting operations during peak periods
Maintain thorough records and documentation to uphold audit-ready standards

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
Minimum of five years of experience in property management accounting
Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, including pivot tables and data manipulation
Familiarity with property management systems
experience with Appfolio is a plus
Strong understanding of sales tax, excise tax, and general ledger processes
Ability to manage high-volume workloads with efficiency and accuracy
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with tenants, property managers, and owners
Detail-oriented and skilled at maintaining organized financial records

Nice to have:

Familiarity with property management software
experience with Appfolio is beneficial but not mandatory
