Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia. This long-term contract position offers an excellent opportunity for financial professionals to apply their expertise in accounting and tax compliance. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in managing accounts, handling vendor relationships, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records, including accruals and accounts payable
  • Prepare and file tax forms such as Form 990 and Form 1099 in compliance with relevant regulations
  • Oversee vendor management processes, ensuring timely payments and resolving discrepancies
  • Utilize QuickBooks to manage accounting operations and generate financial reports
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures to ensure accurate financial statements
  • Reconcile accounts and ensure all transactions are recorded properly
  • Collaborate with team members to address financial inquiries and provide necessary documentation
  • Monitor and review financial data to identify trends or issues that require attention
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies
  • Support audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor requests

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in accounting roles, particularly with accruals and accounts payable
  • Proficiency in tax preparation, including handling Form 990 and Form 1099
  • Strong knowledge of QuickBooks and its accounting functionalities
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships and resolve payment discrepancies
  • Familiarity with accounting standards and compliance procedures
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration and reporting
