Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join a manufacturing organization in Woodridge, Illinois on a Long-term Contract basis. This position plays a key role in supporting daily accounting activity, maintaining accurate financial records, and helping drive an efficient month-end close. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical ability, solid Excel skills, and hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment with inventory-related accounting responsibilities.

Job Responsibility:

Manage recurring accounting activities by preparing journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, and recording accrual and reclassification adjustments as part of the close cycle
Perform detailed bank and account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve outstanding items to keep financial data accurate and current
Support accounts payable and other daily accounting tasks to ensure transactions are processed correctly and in alignment with company procedures
Assist with month-end and periodic close activities by organizing supporting documentation and helping deliver timely financial results
Contribute to internal financial reporting by compiling data, validating results, and assisting management with reporting needs
Review financial activity to identify inconsistencies, research root causes, and recommend corrective action when needed
Partner with operations and supply chain teams to strengthen inventory accuracy through reconciliations, cycle count review, and oversight of inventory-related entries
Help maintain effective accounting workflows and internal controls across general accounting and inventory processes
Use accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Excel-based analysis tools to support reporting, reconciliation, and recordkeeping

Requirements:

At least 7 years of accounting experience, including meaningful involvement in month-end close activities
Demonstrated background in manufacturing or distribution accounting within a middle-market business environment
Hands-on experience preparing journal entries, managing general ledger activity, and completing bank and account reconciliations
Working knowledge of accruals, reclassifications, financial reporting support, and day-to-day accounting operations
Exposure to inventory accounting, inventory controls, and cycle count review is strongly preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and comfort working in accounting systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and manage multiple priorities effectively
