Staff Accountant

• Collect, analyze, and compile financial data to assist with budget development, amendments, and reporting
• Prepare and present financial summaries, reports, charts, and materials for leadership, City Council, boards, and other stakeholders
• Assist in the creation and monitoring of annual and multi-year budgets for municipal operations
• Manage financial data using spreadsheets, databases, and specialized financial software, ensuring data accuracy and integrity
• Coordinate meetings and communications between departments, external agencies, consultants, and other partners involved in municipal initiatives
• Review financial documentation to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
• Support the development of materials for public meetings, hearings, and presentations
• Respond promptly to requests for financial information from internal departments, auditors, leadership, and the public
• Participate in special projects, financial analysis, and research tasks as assigned
• Maintain organized records and documentation in alignment with public records and retention requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field
• Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial reporting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word
• Strong knowledge of public sector budgeting, accounting principles, and financial reporting practices
• Understanding of municipal finance operations, including budget preparation and amendments
• Ability to analyze financial data, create presentations, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills for effectively interacting with internal and external stakeholders

Familiarity with financial management systems or databases is preferred
