Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Richmond, Virginia. This role requires a highly organized individual with a strong background in accounting processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management. The position is part-time, offering 20-25 hours per week, and will involve working closely with nonprofit organizations and grant-related accounting.

Job Responsibility:

Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate transactions
Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies efficiently
Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and compliant
Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close activities
Utilize QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel to organize and analyze financial data
Collaborate with nonprofit organizations to handle grant-related accounting tasks
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies
Provide support during audits and assist with financial reporting requirements
Monitor and track expenses to maintain budgetary adherence

Requirements:

Proven experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable management
Strong knowledge of bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel
Familiarity with nonprofit accounting and grant-related financial processes
Ability to manage journal entries and month-end close procedures
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong analytical abilities to interpret financial data
Effective communication skills for collaboration with teams and external stakeholders
