Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a utilities and infrastructure organization in Lowell, Arkansas. This Long-term Contract position offers the opportunity to manage essential financial activities, contribute to accurate reporting, and help maintain strong compliance across day-to-day accounting functions. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in general ledger work, tax-related accounting, and month-end processes, along with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and record journal entries to ensure financial transactions are accurately reflected in the accounting system
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigating discrepancies and resolving issues in a timely manner
  • Support the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns and related schedules in accordance with applicable regulations
  • Administer sales tax processes, including reviewing transactions, calculating obligations, and assisting with filings
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities by compiling financial data and verifying supporting documentation
  • Partner with internal teams to gather accounting information, improve reporting accuracy, and support audit readiness
  • Review financial records for completeness and compliance with company policies and accounting standards

Requirements

  • Experience performing staff accounting duties in a corporate or similar business environment
  • Working knowledge of corporate tax, including exposure to tax return preparation or support activities
  • Familiarity with sales tax accounting, reporting, and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accuracy
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify variances and resolve accounting discrepancies
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities within established deadlines
