We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In this contract to permanent position, you will play a key role in managing financial records, preparing tax filings, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role offers a great opportunity to contribute to a wholesale distribution organization's financial operation.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and file corporate tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations
Manage and reconcile sales tax filings for multiple jurisdictions
Record and maintain journal entries to support accurate financial reporting
Oversee general ledger activities, ensuring all transactions are properly documented and balanced
Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including account reconciliations and adjustments
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and streamline accounting processes
Conduct periodic audits to verify the accuracy of financial data and adherence to company policies
Stay updated on changes in tax laws and accounting standards to ensure ongoing compliance
Provide support during financial reviews and external audits
Requirements:
Proven experience in corporate tax preparation and filing
Strong knowledge of sales tax regulations and reporting requirements
Proficiency in managing journal entries and general ledger tasks
Familiarity with accounting software and tools
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
Nice to have:
Any experience with Epicor would be a plus
