Job Description:

Robert Half is looking for a skilled Accountant to join a reputable non-profit in Utica, New York. In this role, you will contribute to the smooth operation of accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial principles. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a commitment to maintaining financial integrity.

Job Responsibility:

  • Process vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and corporate credit card expenses while ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies
  • Maintain vendor records, including W-9s and 1099 filings, and assist with cash flow analysis
  • Verify, record, and reconcile bank statement transactions to ensure proper financial documentation
  • Manage investment account activities, compile statements, and coordinate with investment consultants
  • Update fixed asset records, record monthly depreciation entries, and maintain depreciation schedules
  • Prepare journal entries to accurately reflect financial transactions in line with accounting standards
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts on a timely basis, adhering to the reconciliation schedule
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly fund statements and departmental budget-to-actual reports
  • Support year-end closing processes, including audit preparation, 990 documentation, and 1099 filings
  • Collaborate on ad-hoc accounting projects and contribute to the implementation of financial controls

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles
  • Proficiency in processing accounts payable and reconciling general ledger accounts
  • Strong knowledge of journal entries and corporate tax returns
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting
  • Experience with account reconciliation and bank statement verification
  • Familiarity with financial controls and compliance procedures
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with accuracy
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
