We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in White Plains, New York. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting month-end and year-end processes, and maintaining the integrity of our accounting systems. Job Responsibility:
Prepare and post journal entries with accuracy to support month-end and year-end closing processes
Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to maintain financial accuracy
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
Manage fixed assets, including depreciation schedules and reconciliations
Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and consistent accounting treatment of business activities
Support external audits by providing organized documentation and responses to auditor inquiries
Stay up-to-date with evolving accounting standards and assess their implications on financial reporting
Perform bank reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items
Contribute to the improvement and streamlining of accounting processes and systems
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
CPA certification or eligibility is highly preferred
Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience, with public accounting experience as a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas and data manipulation
Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage Intacct is advantageous
Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply accounting principles effectively
Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining financial data clearly and concisely
Self-motivated and detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining accuracy in financial records
