Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a healthcare organization in Tampa, Florida. This position supports core general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and monthly closing tasks while helping maintain accurate financial records across the organization. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, sound accounting knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively with leadership and cross-functional team members.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and post journal entries by reviewing financial data and ensuring transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger
  • Examine balance sheet accounts, complete reconciliations, and investigate discrepancies to maintain reliable financial reporting
  • Support daily general ledger operations by monitoring accounting activity and helping resolve routine and complex issues
  • Research processing variances, document findings, and follow through on corrective actions to improve transaction accuracy
  • Contribute to month-end and quarter-end close activities, including cut-off procedures, adjustments, allocations, and prepaid expense amortization
  • Reconcile bank activity on a weekly basis and ensure cash-related records align with supporting documentation
  • Maintain fixed asset records by recording additions, retirements, and related adjustments in a timely manner
  • Assist with chart of accounts upkeep, annual unclaimed property reporting, and year-end audit preparation
  • Partner with accounting leadership and team members to strengthen controls, improve efficiency, and provide backup support when needed

Requirements

  • 3+ years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role
  • Strong working knowledge of general ledger processes, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Experience supporting month-end close and preparing financial adjustments
  • Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return processes
  • Ability to identify accounting issues, research discrepancies, and recommend practical solutions
  • Proficiency in organizing detailed financial information with a high level of accuracy
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with leadership and accounting teams
