Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Honolulu, Hawaii. This role involves managing financial statements, budgets, and reconciliations for various properties while ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting principles. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of property management accounting practices.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and deliver accurate monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and variance reports, within specified deadlines
  • Manage tenant accounting entries such as rent adjustments, security deposit changes, and lease updates
  • Generate and verify monthly billing statements to ensure the accuracy of charges and balances
  • Collaborate with property managers and controllers to address delinquencies and resolve accounting-related issues
  • Calculate owner distributions, management fees, and excise tax returns based on financial statement data
  • Review and reconcile supporting schedules to ensure consistency with balance sheets and income statements
  • Develop and update annual budget worksheets in coordination with property managers, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy
  • Prepare annual common area maintenance (CAM) reconciliation worksheets and verify the final packages for completeness
  • Provide internal monthly transmittal reports, including cash projections and updates on delinquent accounts
  • Maintain clear communication with team members and management to address inquiries and provide updates on assignments

Requirements

  • Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Yardi Property Management
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including financial statement preparation
  • Experience in preparing annual budgets and common area maintenance (CAM) reconciliations
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including formula creation and data analysis
  • Familiarity with tenant lease accounting and general ledger processes
  • Ability to handle journal entries and excise tax calculations accurately
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and external stakeholders
