Job Description

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a team in Sunnyvale, California. This contract-to-hire opportunity is well suited for an accounting specialist who brings a strong grasp of core accounting practices, enjoys working closely with others, and can adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment. The role offers the chance to contribute across day-to-day accounting operations while building knowledge of internal systems and reporting processes.

Job Responsibility

  • Record and review company credit card activity, ensuring transactions are accurately coded and posted in the accounting records
  • Assist with general ledger maintenance by preparing journal entries and supporting the accuracy of account balances
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances to help maintain reliable financial data
  • Contribute to month-end close activities by completing assigned tasks on schedule and supporting overall close accuracy
  • Help assemble financial reports and presentation materials used for internal review and business reporting
  • Set up and maintain project records within the company’s accounting or project tracking system
  • Partner with colleagues across the accounting team to support daily workflows and shared departmental priorities
  • Learn internal tools and procedures, including project-based accounting systems, through hands-on training and ongoing team support

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years of accounting experience, or comparable practical experience demonstrating strong potential in a staff accounting role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred

  • Working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting principles
  • Experience handling credit card transaction processing and supporting month-end accounting tasks
  • Ability to prepare accurate financial information with strong attention to detail and sound organizational skills
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative team setting and contributing where priorities may shift
  • Quick learner with the professionalism and adaptability to understand new systems and processes efficiently

Nice to have

Exposure to tax-related work such as corporate tax, sales tax, or corporate tax return support is a plus
