Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our client's team in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This is a long-term contract position that offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to financial operations. The role requires a strong background in accounting and compliance, with a focus on month-end close processes and financial reporting.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and analyze journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
  • Perform account reconciliations to maintain the integrity of financial records
  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures to ensure timely reporting
  • Collaborate with external auditors by providing required documentation and supporting materials
  • Monitor financial data and trends to assist in strategic decision-making processes
  • Review and improve internal controls to optimize accounting workflows
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and conducting variance analyses to support fiscal management
  • Ensure compliance with government accounting regulations and internal policies
  • Utilize Excel for data analysis, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
  • Coordinate with teams to implement process enhancements for operational efficiency

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Proven experience in month-end close processes and journal entry preparation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including intermediate functions like VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial statement preparation
  • Familiarity with government accounting standards and compliance requirements
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders

Nice to have

Experience with Infor LN software is a plus but not required
