Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a growing team in South Carolina. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing accounting accuracy with responsive client support in a fast-paced environment. The role offers the chance to contribute across core accounting functions, including general ledger activity, tax-related work, payroll support, and day-to-day financial record maintenance.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintain accurate financial records by preparing journal entries, updating account activity, and supporting general ledger reconciliation
  • Assist with corporate and sales tax processes, including gathering documentation and helping prepare required filings
  • Support payroll-related tasks by reviewing data for accuracy and helping ensure timely processing
  • Perform data entry across accounting records with a strong focus on completeness, organization, and precision
  • Respond to client and customer inquiries professionally, providing helpful support related to account and financial information
  • Work with QuickBooks for selected clients to record transactions and keep books current
  • Help organize financial documentation for reporting, compliance, and internal review purposes

Requirements:

  • Experience in staff accounting or a similar accounting support role
  • Working knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliation, and general ledger activities
  • Familiarity with corporate tax returns and sales tax support responsibilities
  • Understanding of payroll fundamentals and related accounting impact
  • Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail
  • Customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
  • Experience using QuickBooks is helpful for client-related accounting work
