We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join a dynamic financial services firm in Troy, Michigan. This Contract to permanent position offers the opportunity to work in investment management, where you will handle diverse accounting responsibilities and contribute to critical financial processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting practices and software, with a proven ability to manage detailed tasks efficiently.
Job Responsibility:
Manage full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes with accuracy and attention to detail
Perform bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure financial records are complete and up-to-date
Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the general ledger for accurate reporting
Support the month-end closing process, including the preparation of financial statements and reports
Handle quarterly commission payables and ensure timely and accurate processing
Review and process employee expense reports in compliance with company policies
Utilize QuickBooks Pro and QuickBooks Financial to manage accounting tasks effectively
Create and analyze Excel spreadsheets, utilizing formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs to organize and interpret data
Collaborate with team members to complete investment-related financial analysis
Maintain compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within financial services or investment management
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs
Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Pro
experience with QuickBooks Financial is highly desirable
Demonstrated expertise in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
Familiarity with general ledger maintenance and journal entry preparation
Ability to support month-end and quarterly financial processes effectively
Experience in investment financial analysis or brokerage-related accounting is preferred
Excellent organizational and communication skills to manage multiple responsibilities
