We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day financial operations in Oxford, Ohio. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for an accounting specialist who enjoys working across core accounting functions, contributing to accurate reporting, and partnering with a collaborative finance team. The role offers hands-on involvement in transactional accounting, reconciliations, and period-end close activities while handling sensitive financial information with discretion.
Job Responsibility:
Manage accounting activities for multiple non-profit entities, ensuring financial records are complete, organized, and accurate
Process routine accounting transactions across the general ledger, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entry preparation
Collaborate regularly with finance team members to support smooth daily operations and maintain alignment across accounting workflows
Contribute to monthly and year-end close processes by preparing supporting entries, reviewing activity, and helping meet reporting deadlines
Reconcile balance sheet and expense accounts, research discrepancies, and resolve variances in a timely manner
Perform recurring bank and cash reconciliations to confirm the accuracy of financial balances and transaction activity
Support audit readiness by organizing documentation and assisting the accounting team during year-end audit preparation
Maintain strict confidentiality when working with sensitive financial data and internal records
Assist with additional accounting and administrative assignments as business needs require, including adapting to updated financial systems and tools
Requirements:
At least 3 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role
Bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or equivalent combination of relevant accounting experience
Working knowledge of general accounting principles, including general ledger activity, reconciliations, and period-end close
Experience handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and bank reconciliations
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with strong 10-key skills
Ability to learn new software systems quickly
experience with accounting platforms such as AccuFund is a plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Ability to work on-site in an office environment and manage confidential information responsibly
