The Staff Accountant plays a vital role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial processes and reporting. This position is responsible for managing the general ledger and ensuring proper maintenance of all accounts, as well as conducting timely and accurate bank reconciliations. A primary focus of the role is providing financial reporting support, including preparing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end statements in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the Staff Accountant handles accounting tasks specific to the organization’s funds, grants, and other donor-restricted resources, ensuring compliance with grant agreements and fund-specific restrictions. This includes analyzing financial transactions associated with grants and preparing reports for grantors as required. Budget preparation and analysis are also key responsibilities, involving collaboration with department heads to ensure accurate forecasting and alignment with the organization’s mission.
Job Responsibility
General Ledger Support: Perform tasks such as financial performance analysis, data entry, account management, and reconciliations
Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing financial statements as well as monthly and annual reports
Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to fiscal requirements for the program funding by reviewing contracts, preparing invoices, and serving as the primary fiscal contact for any financial related questions
Requirements
Strong analytical skills

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred)
commitment to supporting the organization’s mission
experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and financial statement preparation

familiarity with nonprofit accounting practices, including fund or grant-related financial tracking (preferred)
proficiency with accounting systems and strong Excel skills
