Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in St. Petersburg, Florida. This is a Contract to permanent position within the financial services industry, offering an excellent opportunity to grow your career. The ideal candidate will contribute to maintaining accurate financial records, preparing key reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee and coordinate daily Accounts Payable payments to ensure timely processing
  • Manage quarterly agent commission payment requests and ensure accurate processing
  • Process travel and expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies
  • Prepare and maintain detailed accounting workpapers during monthly closing cycles, adhering to deadlines
  • Handle accruals and prepaids, including journal entries and tracking activities
  • Reconcile General Ledger accounts and conduct detailed financial analysis to verify accuracy
  • Develop schedules to support financial statements, including analysis of budget variances
  • Create and present schedules for management review, covering losses paid and miscellaneous receivables

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or equivalent experience
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including account reconciliations and General Ledger responsibilities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure high-quality deliverables
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally at all levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Teams, and intermediate Excel skills for complex spreadsheets
  • Experience with Accounts Payable, General Ledger systems, and expense reporting systems is required
  • Demonstrated ability to identify issues and escalate them appropriately to management
