Staff Accountant

• Prepare and record journal entries to maintain accurate financial data across the general ledger
• Review accounting activity and reconcile balances to support timely and reliable month-end and ongoing reporting
• Process and monitor accounts payable transactions, ensuring invoices and related postings are handled correctly
• Oversee accounts receivable activity by tracking incoming payments and resolving discrepancies in account balances
• Support sales tax accounting tasks, including maintaining records and assisting with compliance-related documentation
• Use the general ledger system to post, verify, and organize financial transactions in accordance with accounting standards
• Analyze financial information to identify inconsistencies and help improve the accuracy of accounting records
• Collaborate with internal teams to support accounting operations within a utility-focused environment

• Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role
• Strong knowledge of journal entries, ledger maintenance, and account reconciliation
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Familiarity with sales tax handling and related accounting support activities
• Proficiency using a general ledger system to enter, review, and manage financial data
• Ability to post journal entries accurately and maintain organized accounting documentation
• Background in utility industry accounting is helpful
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple accounting tasks effectively
• MUST HAVE A BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN ACCOUNTING -REQUIRED
