Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our client in Granville, Ohio. In this contract to permanent role, you will play a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a construction-focused organization.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist with quarter-end financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Review purchase orders and contracts to verify compliance and completeness
  • Set up new jobs and projects in the accounting system
  • Manage collections, invoicing, and cash receipt processes efficiently
  • Perform general ledger accounting tasks, including journal entries and reconciliations
  • Conduct in-depth research on chargebacks to resolve discrepancies
  • Handle AIA billing and document preparation, with training provided if needed
  • Analyze financial statements to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure proper documentation and reporting for construction-related projects

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in journal entries and general ledger accounting
  • Familiarity with quarter-end close processes and financial statement analysis
  • Strong proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reporting
  • Exposure to the construction industry, whether through relevant experience or personal interest
  • Ability to manage collections, invoicing, and cash receipts with attention to detail

Nice to have:

  • Experience with AIA billing and documents is preferred, but training is available
  • Knowledge of construction accounting systems is advantageous
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct thorough research on financial discrepancies
