Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis on the east side of Madison. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to key accounting functions, including month-end close, cash management, and general ledger activities. While primarily onsite, there may be some flexibility for hybrid work arrangements.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist with month-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Manage prepaid expense accounts and maintain proper documentation
  • Oversee cash management tasks, including reconciliations and forecasting
  • Provide backup support for accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
  • Perform general accounting duties as required to support the finance team
  • Prepare and maintain journal entries to ensure the accuracy of financial records
  • Collaborate on corporate tax return preparations and ensure compliance with tax regulations
  • Handle sales tax calculations and filings in accordance with state and local requirements
  • Utilize Microsoft Dynamics GP for accounting tasks, if applicable

Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of general accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in managing corporate taxes, including sales tax and corporate tax returns
  • Experience with journal entries and general ledger maintenance
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics GP is preferred but not mandatory
  • Ability to work effectively in a lean environment and take on diverse responsibilities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred
