We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support a confidential aerospace manufacturing organization in North Hollywood, California. This Contract position is well suited for an accounting specialist who is comfortable working in a production-focused environment and can contribute across cost accounting, inventory, and financial close activities. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with operations while helping maintain accurate financial data and meaningful manufacturing cost insight.
Job Responsibility
Contribute to monthly and annual closing processes by preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and assisting with financial statement support
Manage core cost accounting activities by reviewing product costs, examining standard cost performance, and identifying drivers behind manufacturing variances
Evaluate spending across labor, materials, and overhead to improve the accuracy of reporting and provide visibility into production economics
Support inventory accounting through balance reconciliations, cycle count follow-up, and review of inventory-related transactions
Collaborate with production and operations personnel to monitor plant performance and help strengthen cost control efforts
Prepare costing analyses that highlight margin impact, changes in production inputs, and trends affecting profitability
Review raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods balances to help ensure proper valuation and reporting
Assist in maintaining accounting and inventory control procedures that support compliance and reliable manufacturing finance data
Provide audit support by organizing schedules, account detail, and documentation for internal or external review
Participate in process improvement initiatives designed to increase efficiency within accounting and manufacturing finance workflows
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
At least 2 years of accounting experience, with prior exposure to manufacturing environments strongly preferred
Working knowledge of cost accounting, inventory valuation, and variance analysis in a production setting
Experience preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accuracy
Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP or accounting systems used in manufacturing operations
Strong analytical skills with careful attention to detail and the ability to organize multiple priorities effectively
Ability to partner with both finance and operational teams in a fast-paced industrial environment
Background in aerospace, industrial, or manufacturing organizations is preferred
