We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a growing real estate development organization in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on a Contract basis. In this role, you will help maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities, contribute to timely reporting, and support key accounting activities that inform business decisions. This opportunity offers exposure to a dynamic finance environment with close collaboration across accounting, operations, and corporate teams.
Job Responsibility:
Manage core close activities by preparing journal entries, recording accruals, and completing account reconciliations to support accurate monthly and annual reporting
Produce financial statements, variance analyses, and detailed schedules that help leadership evaluate performance and trends across the portfolio
Maintain the integrity of general ledger data and verify that accounting records align with internal policies and established standards
Provide audit support by assembling requested documentation, responding to follow-up questions, and helping resolve outstanding issues efficiently
Work with operational and cross-functional stakeholders to streamline accounting workflows and reinforce effective internal control practices
Assist with incorporating newly acquired properties or business units into existing accounting procedures and reporting structures
Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, process efficiency, and visibility into financial results across multiple entities
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
At least 4 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within real estate, hospitality, or other multi-entity environments
Practical experience preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accuracy
Strong understanding of financial reporting principles, reconciliations, and balance sheet account management
Advanced Excel skills with the ability to organize, analyze, and interpret financial information
High level of accuracy, strong organizational ability, and sound problem-solving skills
Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across departments
Nice to have:
CPA certification or active progress toward eligibility is preferred
