We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join our team in San Diego, California. In this role, you will handle a variety of accounting tasks, including accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, and loan draw preparation, while ensuring accuracy and compliance. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial success of our organization through meticulous record-keeping and collaboration with various stakeholders.
Job Responsibility:
Process and review accounts payable transactions, including invoice verification, data entry, and check preparation
Manage vendor files, resolve discrepancies, and maintain effective communication with vendors
Handle 1099 processing and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
Organize and maintain both physical and electronic records for preliminary notices
Prepare loan draws and construction project budgets, process change orders, review lien releases and insurance documents
Reconcile monthly bank statements to ensure accuracy in financial reporting
Assist with audits and provide due diligence for compliance across various properties
Maintain the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and support overall financial accuracy
Offer administrative support, including filing and other office tasks, with occasional lifting up to 30 lbs
Perform additional duties as needed to support the company’s goals and operations
Requirements:
Strong understanding of accounts payable processes
Familiarity with general accounting principles and procedures
Proficiency in Sage, QuickBooks, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Exceptional data entry skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with good judgment
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in loan draw preparation and accounts payable
Bachelor’s degree preferred, but equivalent experience may be considered
