We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Brown Deer, Wisconsin. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards. You will collaborate across departments and with external partners to support critical accounting processes and contribute to the continuous improvement of financial operations.
Job Responsibility:
Manage key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Process journal entries, vouchers, and general ledger updates to maintain accurate accounting records
Reconcile general ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies, and ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards
Prepare and analyze financial reports to support informed decision-making by management
Conduct bank and account reconciliations, resolve variances, and ensure the timely resolution of discrepancies
Maintain fixed asset records, including tracking capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and reconciling them to the general ledger
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and assist with internal and external audits
Support departmental organization by implementing process improvements, documenting workflows, and enhancing internal controls
Develop, implement, and document accounting policies and procedures, including those related to budgeting and expense reporting
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the accounting department
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required
Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial close processes
Proficiency in managing sales and use tax filings, fixed asset accounting, and reconciliation to the general ledger
Strong analytical and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to work independently and demonstrate sound judgment in complex situations
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaboration across departments and with external partners
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Avalara, and advanced Excel functionalities
