Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for an organization based in California. This Long-term Contract position is well suited for someone with strong experience in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and keeping accounting activities aligned with established standards. The ideal candidate brings a solid background in day-to-day accounting functions and can work effectively across reconciliations, ledger maintenance, and revenue-related processes. Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and post journal entries to ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and on schedule
  • Maintain the general ledger by reviewing account activity, researching discrepancies, and supporting month-end close efforts
  • Perform regular account reconciliations and resolve outstanding variances in a timely manner
  • Assist with operational audit activities by gathering documentation, validating records, and responding to information requests
  • Support revenue accounting tasks, including tracking entries, reviewing balances, and confirming proper recognition practices
  • Analyze financial data to identify inconsistencies and recommend corrective actions when needed
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve accuracy, maintain compliance, and support ongoing accounting priorities

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree - Accounting or Finance
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel & Proficient ERP knowledge
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in accounting or a closely related finance role
  • Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and managing general ledger activity
  • Strong background in account reconciliation and investigating variances across financial records
  • Familiarity with operational audit support and maintaining accurate supporting documentation
  • Experience working with revenue accounting processes and financial reporting requirements
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and standard month-end procedures
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
