Robert Half is currently recruiting for a Staff Accountant, Grants & Contracts for a mission-driven organization in the Tampa Bay area. Our client is seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional who is looking to grow their career while supporting meaningful work that directly impacts the local community. This position plays a key role in supporting the accounting and reporting of grant and contract activity. Working closely with the Grants Manager and finance leadership, the Staff Accountant will contribute to accurate financial reporting, compliance, and overall operational effectiveness within a collaborative and team-oriented environment and will primarily be responsible for: Assisting with accounting for grants and contracts, including tracking expenditures and ensuring proper classification; Preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and support month-end close activities; Maintaining and analyzing financial data related to restricted funding sources; Partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting deadlines; Supporting audit preparation and documentation related to grants and contracts; Utilizing accounting systems and Excel tools to organize and analyze financial data. Job Responsibility

  • Assisting with accounting for grants and contracts, including tracking expenditures and ensuring proper classification
  • Preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and support month-end close activities
  • Maintaining and analyzing financial data related to restricted funding sources
  • Partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting deadlines

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and lookup functions
  • Experience with accounting systems (ERP experience preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a team environment
  • Prior exposure to grant or fund accounting is a plus but not required
