Job Description

Our client is looking for a Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper to join their team to support their clients. This role is 100% remote but will need to sit in Houston in case any in person meetings arise. Experience with residential real estate is a major plus.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage complete bookkeeping cycles for multiple client accounts, ensuring timely and accurate financial records
  • Process vendor payments, customer invoicing, and cash activity while maintaining proper supporting documentation
  • Record bank, credit card, and other financial transactions and perform regular reconciliations to resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare and post journal entries, maintain general ledger accuracy, and assist with routine financial reviews
  • Support payroll-related accounting tasks, including transaction entry and verification of payroll data
  • Contribute to tax-related accounting support, including sales tax tracking and assisting with corporate tax documentation as needed
  • Work across cloud-based accounting platforms and adapt to new software tools to meet client and business needs

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on accounting experience
  • 3 to 5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • Practical experience with cloud-based accounting systems
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills for analysis, tracking, and account support
  • Knowledge of journal entries, general ledger processes, and core accounting workflows
  • Ability to stay organized, solve problems independently, communicate effectively, and learn new systems quickly

Nice to have

  • Experience with residential real estate
  • Exposure to sales tax, corporate tax, or corporate tax return support
  • Property management accounting experience
