The Strategic Initiatives Lead is responsible for driving special projects and initiatives for Medicare technology in support of Aetna's Medicare Technology vision and goals, working cross functionally with other Lines of Business and business and technology domains. This role partners with leadership and teams across all facets of the healthcare payer ecosystem to identify strategic opportunities, develop execution plans and dig into the details to define the opportunity and outline the path forward to ensure successful delivery of digital health and IT modernization projects primarily in the Medicare domain.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the design and planning of strategic healthcare IT initiatives for Medicare Technology related goals
Align technology initiatives with organizational goals such as patient care improvement, interoperability, and regulatory compliance
Develop business cases and roadmaps for Medicare technology related initiatives
Collaborate with clinical, operational, and administrative teams to ensure alignment and adoption of IT solutions
Facilitate stakeholder engagement and change management across departments
Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership on technology trends and innovation
Manage a portfolio of high-impact initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and measurable outcomes
Monitor project performance, risks, and dependencies
escalate issues as needed
Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and external partners to support initiative success
Define KPIs and success metrics for strategic initiatives
Prepare executive-level reports and presentations on initiative progress and impact
Conduct post-implementation reviews to capture lessons learned and inform future strategy
Requirements:
7+ years of experience in healthcare IT, strategic planning, or digital transformation
Strong understanding of healthcare systems, technology platforms and regulatory frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH)
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex initiatives
Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, Business, or related field (Master's preferred)
