Job Description:

This is a Sr. Analyst Assistant Vice President (AVP) 2nd Line of Defense position serving as a Consumer Compliance Monitoring and Testing Officer within Citi’s Independent Compliance Risk Management (ICRM) organization. This role is part of the US Personal Banking (USPB) Independent Assessment team responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of compliance risk controls implemented by the first and second lines of defense. The role emphasizes analytical thinking, compliance testing, and leveraging data-driven tools to address consumer compliance risks.

Job Responsibility:

  • develop, implement, and execute compliance testing and monitoring activities
  • leverage data analytics to enhance sampling strategies and identify potential compliance anomalies
  • design and execute testing procedures utilizing structured and unstructured data
  • conduct walkthroughs to gain an understanding of end-to-end processes
  • execute issue validation and control testing for Consumer Compliance risks
  • document and report findings clearly
  • probe into processes and data to ensure robust testing outcomes
  • collaborate with Data Analytics partners or use coding skills to analyze datasets
  • assist in the development of compliance testing risk assessments
  • maintain strong partnerships with process owners and compliance officers
  • escalate control deficiencies or violations in a timely manner
  • stay current with industry practices and regulatory expectations
  • support continuous improvement efforts within the Independent Assessment program

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in Financial Services, with a strong background in Consumer Compliance
  • prior experience working for or interacting with regulatory agencies such as the CFPB, OCC, or FDIC is highly desirable
  • proven experience with data analytics/Artificial Intelligence in testing or monitoring activities
  • working knowledge of Consumer Protection laws and regulations such as Reg Z, UDAAP, ECOA/Reg B, SCRA, MLA, FCRA, and Fair Lending
  • strong working knowledge of coding or query languages (e.g., SQL, Python, SAS) or demonstrated ability to work alongside analytics teams
  • ability to dig deeply into processes and data to uncover compliance risks and root causes
  • experience conducting risk-based testing, including planning, execution, and documentation
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • strong project management and time management skills
  • experience working collaboratively in a large, matrixed organization
  • effective negotiation skills and sound judgment in escalating issues
  • certifications preferred: CRCM, CIA, CISA, or other relevant designations
  • bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree a plus
  • background in compliance, auditing, analytics, legal, or a related control function strongly preferred

Nice to have:

  • demonstrated ability to leverage data analytics to inform testing strategy and identify compliance trends or control weaknesses
  • proficiency in SQL, Python, SAS, or other analytics tools
  • prior work experience in a regulatory agency (e.g., CFPB, OCC, FDIC)
  • strong investigative mindset and intellectual curiosity
  • experience developing automated testing routines
  • knowledge of model governance or how data-driven tools intersect with regulatory expectations
  • familiarity with Citi’s internal systems, compliance frameworks, or previous experience working in a global, matrixed bank environment
  • track record of contributing to or leading continuous improvement initiatives
