Job Description:

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Sr. Accountant to join our team in Hawaii. This Contract-to-permanent position requires a strong background in managing financial operations, including general ledger activities, fixed asset accounting, and lease management. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in financial reporting and compliance while thriving in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility:

Oversee fixed asset accounting, including tracking construction in progress, capitalizing assets, booking depreciation, and leading bi-annual fixed asset audits
Manage lease accounting activities, such as lease capitalization under compliance standards, monthly amortization, and maintaining accurate subledger records
Perform account reconciliations, verify data accuracy, and resolve discrepancies in the general ledger
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes by preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and accruals
Assist with financial reporting by preparing schedules and providing variance analyses to operational management
Facilitate the preparation of Hawaii tax returns and respond to information requests from tax authorities
Contribute to the development and enforcement of internal controls to ensure compliance and accuracy
Participate in special projects and other assigned tasks to support the accounting department's goals

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in accounting or related business field is preferred
Minimum 4+ years accounting experience
Proven experience with month-end close, general ledger management, and journal entries
Expertise in fixed asset accounting, including asset capitalization and depreciation tracking
Solid understanding of lease accounting standards and processes
Strong proficiency in account and bank reconciliations
Experience with financial reporting and variance analysis
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Oracle NetSuite technologies
Knowledge of excise tax preparation and compliance
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
