We are looking for a detail-oriented Sr. Accountant to join our team in Barrington, Rhode Island. This contract-to-permanent position offers an opportunity to play a vital role in managing financial operations and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting processes, reconciliations, and vendor management while supporting various departments and contributing to the organization's success.
Job Responsibility:
Accurately record and manage revenue and expenditures while reconciling bank and investment accounts with the General Ledger
Oversee department payment requisitions, maintain vendor files, and ensure proper insurance documentation
Act as the purchasing agent, assisting departments with bid preparation, advertisement, negotiation, and awarding contracts
Ensure adherence to state and local purchasing regulations while coordinating bulk purchasing arrangements and obtaining competitive pricing
Manage the organization's equipment lease program, including monitoring lease expirations and negotiating new agreements
Prepare projections, analyses, and account reconciliations to support annual budget and audit cycles
Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions and subsidiary schedules
Update and audit annual insurance records, ensuring accurate reporting of additions and disposals
Handle police detail billing, including contractor payments and account reconciliation with the payroll system
Provide assistance to departments with grants management and reporting, and offer support to boards and commissions as needed.
Requirements:
Proficiency in month-end close processes, including preparation and review
Strong knowledge of General Ledger management and journal entries
Experience with account and bank reconciliations
Ability to work collaboratively across departments and ensure regulatory compliance
Excellent organizational skills to maintain detailed financial records and subsidiary schedules
Capability to manage vendor relationships and ensure proper documentation
Familiarity with grants management and reporting processes
Dedication to continuous development and staying updated on industry trends.
