Job Description:

Uber’s mission is to help people go anywhere and get anything, and their Grocery & Retail unit is a fast-growing scaleup within Uber that enables consumers to get just about anything delivered through the Uber Eats app. As the Senior Strategy & Planning Associate, you will be at the center of data-driven decision making for Uber’s Grocery & Retail business in North America. You will play a central role in developing data-driven insight, establishing growth strategy, and ensuring we are on track with the choices we've made through robust governance and reporting.

Job Responsibility:

  • Business Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of market trends, the competitive landscape, and internal performance data within the Grocery & Retail vertical to inform strategic decisions and deliver actionable insights
  • Performance Tracking & Governance: Develop metrics and dashboards to track progress against goals for strategic initiatives and lead regular performance reviews to ensure that the initiatives are on track to achieve their objectives
  • Strategic Initiatives: Lead strategic initiatives end-to-end to enhance Uber’s retail-related offerings
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with key cross-functional teams, including Operations, Product, Finance, and Marketing, to develop and implement initiatives that align with the overall strategy
  • Strategic & Business Planning: Contribute to the annual strategic and financial planning processes led by the Planning team

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in a data-driven role within strategy, operations, e-commerce, tech, investment banking or consulting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or a quantitative field (i.e. Statistics, Data Science, Engineering)
  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills, including proficiency in SQL and the ability to build and maintain robust strategic, financial and operational models

Nice to have:

  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and driving operational improvements with a track record of executing initiatives from planning to results
  • Experience in the retail or CPG industry
  • Strong familiarity (or appetite to engage with) AI tools to drive efficiency and speed to insight, such as GPT and Cursor
  • Effective communicator with the ability to translate data and insights into compelling stories
  • Demonstrates strong business judgment and critical thinking skills
  • Proven experience approaching data analysis from a structured, hypothesis-led basis
  • Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced environment (such as a tech company, startup, or consulting)
  • A proactive, ownership mentality with a bias for action
  • MBA or other advanced degree in a relevant field
